Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

STATEMENT OF POLICY

Our approach to DEI honors this commitment through ongoing efforts to inspire and host a culturally vibrant community where each individual is welcomed, respected, feels valued, and can flourish. Our DEI initiatives specifically aim to increase our ability to analyze social constructs and influences from a position of shared humanity and to integrate our values and belief systems into appropriate action.

REASON FOR THIS POLICY

The purpose of this policy is to increase and create sustainable change for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the greater society by prioritizing it within our College community and weaving these concepts into the culture. The hope is that DEI will be not just about being and belonging, but also about translating diverse perspectives into innovation that advances society in new and beneficial ways.

INDIVIDUALS AND ENTITIES AFFECTED BY THIS POLICY

This policy applies to all members of the College community.

DEFINITIONS

“Diversity” shall mean the representation of the different characteristics that make one individual or group different from another.

“Equity” shall mean evaluating the institution and systems to identify and remove biases in the distribution of opportunities and resources.

“Inclusion” shall mean ensuring differences are welcomed, different perspectives are heard, and every individual feels a sense of belonging.
