Program Objectives

Oil Painting Concentration
  1. Develop proficient composition using appropriate tools, elements of art, and principles of design.
  2. Communicate art technique, history, and theory clearly.
  3. Think critically about the purpose of art and its influence on culture.
  4. Present oneself and one’s work professionally, including through an online presence.
  5. Construct technically sound paintings on multiple substrates and in multiple media.
Graphic Design Concentration
  1. Develop proficiency with graphic-design software and tools.
  2. Create effective visual solutions across multiple media and platforms.
  3. Plan and carry design projects from concept through execution.
  4. Apply critical thinking and problem-solving to design challenges.
  5. Understand ethical and cultural dimensions of design and its social impact.
  6. Communicate and collaborate effectively in professional design settings.
  7. Develop a professional-quality portfolio showing a range of work and creative development.
